What Is the Plant Finder and Gardening Guide?
The Plant Finder is a free tool on our website designed specifically for Newfoundland gardeners. Whether you're just starting out or you have been growing for years, it helps you find the right plants for your space without the guesswork.
You can use it three ways:
- Search by plant name: look up a specific plant and find out if we carry it and whether it suits NL conditions
- Browse by category: filter by annuals, perennials, trees and shrubs, vegetables, herbs, houseplants and more
- Ask a question: type a question in plain language and get an answer tailored to our climate. Things like "What grows well in a shady NL garden?" or "Is this plant safe for dogs?" or "What perennials survive our winters?"
Built for Our Climate
There's no shortage of gardening advice online, but most of it isn't written with Newfoundland and Labrador in mind. Planting schedules, hardiness zones, bloom times, etc., is all different here. What thrives in Ontario can struggle on the Avalon.
